[Review] - Sweeney Todd. The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

On 21 February 2008, at us in the cinema at last Tim Burton's new film "Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" (original: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street). Reason enough for a little review of the musical thriller, which was published in the States just before Christmas.

action

London, 19 Century: Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp) is thrown unschludig Tupin by Judge (Alan Rickman) to a prison, so that Barker's wife and daughter "hold" at home can. 15 years later as Sweeney Todd Barker comes back to avenge himself. He opens a barber shop on the business of meat pies baker Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) to lure her of its tormentors in the trap.

criticism

"Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" is a very successful musical adaptation. Johnny Depp shines in the role of the murdering barber and Helena Bonham Carter in particular the strange Mrs. Lovett plays wonderfully.

Color is the film in dark gray tones. The only splashes of color are actually only the red blood flows to the victims.

The music was composed by Stephen Sondheim and impresses with its diversity. All characters, whether major or minor-sing, the studio previously recorded passages, perfect.

rightly been awarded the "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" three Oscar nominations for Johnny Depp as Best Actor, and for the best costume design and best production design.

The story is very interesting. In particular, the end was staged beautifully.

In Germany the film is released from 16 years, which has rightly so, for the killing scenes are quite dramatic shown.

All this points inevitably lead to positive reviews, both by viewers and critics. In the IMDb, the film is already in the Top 250 list. Even three Oscar nominations and two Golden Globe wins speak for themselves.

All in all, "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" one of the highlights of recent years. Johnny Depp plays as good as ever, Tim Burton proves once again that he is one of the most impressive directors of our time and his wife Helena Bonham Carter would have deserved the Golden Globe for Best Actress.

The film is so for everyone looks the exciting entertainment and has nothing to wonderful musical contributions.
